Windhorse (PG)
Saturday 19 July, 6.25pm

Brave on many levels, much of this enthralling film, set during the last uprising in Tibet in the late 1980s, was filmed clandestinely on digital video right under the noses of the Chinese authorities. It’s the story of three young Tibetans struggling to make sense of their lives as their country faces dramatic change around them and as restrictions on their basic freedom tightens….

Spider Lilies (15 TBC) Ci qing
Saturday 9 August, 4.15pm

A brilliantly off-the-wall romance, Spider Lilies shifts between past and present, and the imagined and the real, in a candy coloured world of internet chatrooms and tattoo parlours. ‘Webgirl’ Jade literally creates fantasy in a soft-core chatroom. Her interest in a particular tattoo, designed by gentle artist Takeko, is the catalyst for change in both women's lives, unearthing past secrets and awakening hidden desires….

Breakfast with Scot (15 TBC)
Tuesday 12 August, 6.10pm

Sam and his lover Ed are in a long-term relationship and living together. Sam is a former professional ice-hockey player whose career as a television sports commentator is threatened by the sudden appearance of Ed's sissy nephew, Scot. Not like most 11 year olds, Scot’s love of flamboyant clothes and a preference for musicals above sport is a challenge to a macho, sports-loving household….

Smiley Face (15)
Wednesday 13 August, 6.15pm

The legendary director of Mysterious Skin and Totally F***ed Up returns with a trashy and joyous stoner comedy starring Anna Faris as Jane, an out-of-work actress who fills her days getting high and little else. After erroneously eating an entire batch of pot-filled cupcakes, Jane ventures out into the world on a riotous drug fuelled odyssey that can only end in disaster…. Actual gay content may be lacking, but Araki has already done more than enough to prove his worth as one of the leading contemporary queer filmmakers, and here his oddball wit and wonderfully garish eye for composition have never been sharper.
